SMG State Winner
It’s official! Samauria Harley has won the student competition of the Georgia Stock Market Game! Woodville-Tompkins 9th grader and business student, Samauria Harley, made a number of well-timed trades during this fall’s game. She rode the recent crypto boom by investing in a Bitcoin proxy (MSTR), and correctly surmised that a small biotech company’s (XCUR) stock price surge was due more to its low float than any realistic valuation, and shorted it just as the bubble burst. She maintains that she was exceedingly lucky in many of her trades, and that the highly concentrated positions she favored could have easily sent her to the bottom of the rankings-had things gone wrong. Lucky for her however, things went quite right!
Samauria attends Woodville-Tompkins High School in Savannah and is taught by teacher John Cook. Cook leads quite the formidable Stock Market Game program, taking home the state title for the 4th consecutive season! Additionally, teams under Cook’s expert leadership also claimed the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots in the state among student teams! Wow!
